What a town

July 17, 2014

To the Editor,

One can’t help but notice how attractive and welcoming our town is becoming!
Thanks to the BBIA, colourful banners, and baskets and barrels of flowers greet us downtown. And the “Welcome to Bancroft” signs and gardens at each highway entrance to town are filling out and well maintained.
There’s a beautiful historical mural by Arne Roosman on the “old Whitfield building” that was commissioned by Burke Chamberlin.
And running along the river in front of the mural, is the very attractive, first section of the new riverside boardwalk – also thanks to Burke, and his partners, Steve Huszarik and Gord Krieger.
Bridge Street has a new bridge adorned with banners, flower baskets and lights!
And to everyone’s delight and relief, it was finished on time with minimal traffic problems thanks to Perry Kelly and the crew at Bancroft Public Works.
As a result of the diligent efforts of the BBIA, Chris Drost (BBIA Executive Director), and the Town, over 5,000 permanent and seasonal residents were treated to an entertaining Wheels, Water and Wings weekend.
Many community organizations and individuals pitched in to ensure there were fun activities for all ages – on land, in the air, and on the beautiful York River!
Like the saying goes “great things happen when everyone contributes.”
Way to go, Bancroft!
