Peewee girls battle Lynx

April 6, 2016

The Leveque Brother/Rock Breaker Bancroft Peewee Girl Jets were in North York this past weekend for their divisional championship.
Facing off against three rival teams, the Jets were ready to be strong and fierce on the ice.
Friday’s game 1 was against the Lindsay Lynx, a regular season rival team. With full control of the puck, the Jets were able to take a 2-1 victory after three periods of hockey. Goals were scored by Olivia Villamere and Peyton Armstrong. With assists going to Elyse Ives, Emma Tidey, Hannah McMann and Beth Brownlee.

The Jets second game was against the Mount Forest Rams, a team they have never played against. Mount Forest was ahead after a few moments of play, but it wasn’t soon after that when the Jets took the game back into their hands, and showed the opposition how determined they play their game.

The Leveque Brother/Rock Breaker Jets held the puck in the offensive zone, scoring twice.

Time ran out and the buzzer rang with a 3-2 loss on the scoreboard. Goals scored by Brownlee and Tidey with the assist going to Armstrong.

Saturday morning, the Jets took on the Kitchener Lady Rangers. This is a team they had previously played against in a early winter tournament. Incredible goaltending by Courtney Semach, offence and defence from both teams lead to a 0-0 tie after three periods.

With the Leveque Brother/Rock Breaker Jets record of 1-1-1, the girls headed to the bronze medal game mid afternoon against the Lindsay Lynx.
After the three periods of aggressive hockey, they were tied 1-1. A 10-minute sudden death, four-on-four overtime was unsuccessful for both teams.

A six player shoot out would then follow up. Goaltending from both teams was absolutely incredible. Unfortunately, the Lindsay Lynx scored, taking home the bronze. Goal scored by Villamere and assisted by Tidey and Ava Smith.
Coaches, family, friends and fans are extremely proud of this team. With their heads held high, the Leveque Brother/Rock Breaker Bancroft Peewee Girl Jets will now head to another championship weekend April 7 to 10, where they are ranked within the top 20 teams of the province.
