I am very plugged in to the happenings in Bancroft and the surrounding area and am a keen observer of the local media, politics and economy.  Many people in the greater Bancroft area are equally engaged and are very passionate about the decisions and developments that impact our region. In recent years, I have noticed that one of the most contentious issues for our citizens is that of the Freymond aggregate quarry.  For better or worse, most people seem to have a strong opinion about the quarry.  This is a polarizing issue: the people I talk to seem to be heavily in favour or fervently against the quarry development. Whether on a cottage dock, at a local restaurant or in the check out line at the grocery store, if the topic of the quarry is raised, a hot reaction will ensue.   In my opinion, however, there is one thing missing.  There is one part of this story that is not being told. What do the local politicians think? No one that I ask seems to know. Why have they been so quiet? Do they support the development or are they against it?  I would like to call them out. We voted them in; we look to them for leadership; they are major stakeholders; they represent all of us.  Please let us know.
