Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB) has elected its 2017 chair.

Former board vice-chair John Brisbois was elected at the board’s annual meeting Dec. 6, 2016. He will serve until December 2017.

“I am proud to be a Catholic trustee and I am honoured to serve as the chair of this board; a board that represents the traditions of our faith and one that recognizes our part in an ever changing global society,” said Brisbois. “As we begin this new board year, I look forward with hope, with confidence, and with optimism, to a future where each student and staff member, in our Catholic school system is able to grow and mature into the person God has intended them to be.”

Between 1988 and 2006, Brisbois taught at St. Paul Catholic Secondary School in Trenton. He was first elected to the board in 2006. He is a member of ALCDSB’s social justice committee, Food for Learning, Catholic education week committee,  and the Quinte Poverty Challenge and Quinte Children’s Water Festival.

Terry Shea was elected as vice-chair and Sean Kelly was elected as chair of the board’s finance and operations committee.
