Candidates are listed alphabetically within each position they are running for. Brent Moxam — Running for Mayor 1. What made you want to run for municipal office? I am running for mayor of Carlow Mayo Township because I care deeply about our community and want to help build a strong, sustainable future for our residents. As the Operations Manager for the highway maintenance company that services Carlow Mayo Township and several neighbouring municipalities, I have gained firsthand experience in infrastructure management, budgeting, public service delivery, and long-term planning. Through this work, I have developed a practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing rural communities. I believe local government works best when it is accessible, accountable, and focused on the needs of residents. I am committed to leading with community, integrity, and transparency while working collaboratively with Council  2. What do you see as the biggest issues facing the municipality? Like many rural municipalities, Carlow Mayo faces challenges related to infrastructure, financial sustainability, and responsible growth. Maintaining roads and municipal infrastructure while managing costs is essential. We must ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and that long-term planning guides our investment decisions. Strong asset management and responsible budgeting will help us maintain services without placing unnecessary burdens on residents. Another important priority is ensuring residents remain informed and engaged in municipal decision making. Open communication and transparency help build trust and strengthen the relationship between Council and the community. As mayor, I would support a practical, solutions-focused approach to these challenges by working collaboratively with council, staff, residents, and our partners at Hastings County. By planning responsibly and focusing on the needs of our community, we can protect what makes Carlow Mayo special while preparing for the future. 3. What makes you best suited for the role? My professional experience has prepared me well for the responsibilities of Mayor. As Operations Manager for the highway infrastructure maintenance company servicing Carlow Mayo and surrounding municipalities, I oversee operations that require leadership, strategic planning, budgeting, problem-solving, and accountability. I understand the importance of maintaining infrastructure, managing resources responsibly, and delivering reliable public services. I also recognize the value of listening, building relationships, and working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes. I am committed to serving residents with honesty, transparency, and respect. I will bring a practical, balanced approach to municipal government and will work hard to ensure Carlow Mayo's interests are represented both locally and at Hastings County Council. 4.
