Bancroft police investigating fatal ATV collision

On May 19 shortly before 8:30 p.m, police responded to a report of a single vehicle A.T.V. collision on Airport Road in Faraday Township. Officers from the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) attended the location with paramedics, and observed a four-wheeled off road vehicle in the ditch off the roadway. The single rider was found unresponsive with the vehicle.

Efforts were made to resuscitate the driver, but were unsuccessful. A 17-year-old male from the Municipality of Hastings Highlands was declared deceased at the scene.

Investigation into the collision is ongoing, with the assistance of the O.P.P.’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (T.T.C.I.). A post mortem examination of the deceased is scheduled for today.

The name of the involved person is not being released at this time, as the investigation is ongoing.
