Accident results in charge of impaired driving

February 24, 2016

During the evening hours on Feb. 18, police responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision, outside of a residence on Old Hastings Road, near Highway 62 in Bancroft.

Officers with the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police attended the scene and identified the driver of a motor vehicle that had struck a tree at that location.

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.  Police determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol, and she was arrested and transported to the Bancroft OPP detachment.  There, the driver provided samples of her breath to a qualified intoxilyzer technician for the purposes of determining the level of alcohol in her system.

Charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood is a 53-year-old woman from Bancroft.  She was released on a promise to appear notice with a first appearance date of March 22 in Bancroft court.
