Brush with the North open for business

February 3, 2015

By Tony Pearson

Linda Lang has now opened “Brush with the North”, her gallery and teaching space on Bridge Street (just down from “A Place for the Arts”).  Courses are starting in February; for children, for adults, and for families.  Already the “social art” sessions are filling up, especially those on Friday nights.  The concept is to de-stress over a bottle of wine or cup of tea while meeting other arts aficionados and exploring your creativity by decorating a wine glass or making jewellery or creating a distinctive sign.   Wednesday painting workshops are also attracting registrants.  Lang also hopes a number of families will come out to hand-paint their own family trees.  Eventually, Lang believes, the number of galleries in the “theatre district” will help make Bancroft a destination for tourists.  Meanwhile, they will highlight local talent, and hopefully develop more, as well as show off the beauty of the area – a theme picked up right at the entrance with a wall-length waterfall created by are artist and commercial landscaper Dave Maris.  For more information on course and workshops, Brush with the North can be contacted at (613) 332-0123; their website is www.BrushWithTheNorth.com.
