CSI comes to high school law class

The law class at North Hastings High School knows something that the O.J. Simpson jury didn’t – namely, that footprint evidence demonstrated he was almost certainly at the scene of the crime when his wife and her friend were murdered.

Bancroft Fish and Game Club helps NERDs

We’re counting down. The Northern Environmental Research class (NERDs) is up against the clock trying to get everything ready for our year-end projects. As we work on preparations for the trip to Rockingham, we are also putting together our Golf Tournament. The golf tournament is a fundraiser for the program; this will be its fifth year. The funds from this Tournament go towards our certification trips that we take to get our Boat License, GPS Certification and more.

Heather Taylor, English teacher at North Hastings High School, believes that reading should be a participation sport. Accordingly, she challenged her 11C English class to form teams and battle it out to determine who read the best book.

Council shelves garage sale bylaw

Bancroft town council, at its meeting last week, considered a draft bylaw that would have restricted the number of garage sales in the municipality, and required the purchase of a $10 license for every sale held.

“I do this for the chance to help someone” – youth firefighters

“I am very proud of our little volunteer fire department,” said Limerick Township Deputy Reeve Sharon Carson. She is particularly proud of the department’s “Youth Firefighter” program, now into its third year. “Jason Post, our fire chief, does a fantastic job,” she said. “And all young people are welcome to participate. We have young people not just from our township, but from Bancroft, Wollaston, and Tudor and Cashel as well.”
