Re: Too many questions

July 17, 2015

To the Editor,

I was very pleased to read your most recent article in Bancroft This Week “Too Many Questions”, because you absolutely hit the nail on the head, and reflected the concerns and opinion of so many people in the Bay Lake and Bancroft area.
I am a property owner on Bay Lake, and have been residing seasonally in the Bancroft area for over 10 years. We have invested hundred’s of thousands of dollars into our property and in to the town of Bancroft, and for the same reasons you stated, it is a beautiful, peaceful, quiet area to live, work and play.
The proposed Rock Quarry by Freymond Lumber would be a disaster to our area. Not only for all of the reasons you touched on in your last article, but what about the investment side of owning a property? Who is going to want to buy, rent and travel to an area that has a large industrial Rock Quarry there?..Nobody.. Property values would tank, and that would be horrible for the tourism industry in Bancroft.
There is a lot of speculation circulating that the Rock Quarry has already been approved, and this is just a formality informing the public, which has a lot of people concerned. They are also taking about the fact that Freymond is a large big dollar company, and will basically get whatever they want. If that is true, that’s terrible. Can they approve a project, JUST because it meets the “standard” of the different bylaws, acts, etc. even if the people of Bancroft and Faraday don’t want it? We hold high hope that the council members of Faraday listen to the people and deny the proposal. We hope they choose the environment, peaceful way of life, and preserve what we have here for generations, and not chose industrial expansion.
We hold high hope this proposal will be denied and our council members and Reeve stand behind the majority of the voting public. We are all watching and listening closely.
Thank you for your reports.

Ryan
