Tudor and Cashel to host vaccination clinic on Aug. 17

Tudor and Cashel Township is offering a walk-in vaccination clinic to administer the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine to its residents on Aug. 17, according to an Aug. 10 post on their Facebook page. Nancy Carrol, the clerk and treasurer, says that the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health will have vaccines available to give the shot to all residents 12 years of age and up. This clinic will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the municipal office at 371 Weslemkoon Lake Road, and while no appointment is necessary, residents must bring their health card.

Carrol reveals that she had gotten a notice from Hastings County that the HPEPH was looking for sites to set up mobile vaccination clinics.

“I reached out to offer our community centre in an effort to make it more accessible for residents in the area to get their vaccinations,” she says.

Carrol says that the HPEPH is organizing the logistics of the event, and that the township simply offered the space for it to happen. She says that the health unit will also be providing the staff who will be administering the vaccine shots to those who come by.

Emily Tubbs is a communications specialist with the HPEPH, and provided the following statement on the vaccination clinics on behalf of Dr. Ethan Toumishey, the director of clinical programs at the HPEPH. Dr. Toumishey says that the HPEPH is working with municipal and community partners to organize pop-up vaccination clinics throughout Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.

“Since getting fully vaccinated is the best way individuals can protect themselves and those around them, pop up clinics are intended to make it as convenient as possible for individuals to get fully vaccinated. Increasing vaccination rates throughout the region is critical to protect the broader community from the risks of COVID-19. We urge residents not to delay and to get fully vaccinated right away,” he says.

Dr. Toumishey reveals that they have established a mobile vaccination team of HPEPH nurses to administer vaccinations at these pop-up clinics, and that they are grateful for the support of community partners to provide facilities to make it possible to hold these clinics in a variety of areas, like the Tudor and Cashel municipal office on Aug. 17.

“While individuals must bring their health card, no appointment is needed. Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available and nurses will provide the same vaccine as provided for the first dose whenever possible. As we approach the fall, getting fully immunized is critical to protect yourself and others.
